Closet Revamp Project

Long OverDue Closet Organization Project

Starting in September, I will be conducting a month-long organization project on my closet and revamping my wardrobe as a whole. This is a project that I have been putting off for a while because, ultimately, I have a lot of clothes in my closet that I need to continue to sort through (keep, donate, or resell) and distinguish if each piece represents the person I would like to show up as today. To be quite frank, many of the clothes in my closet do not represent who I am; however, some pieces in my closet evoke a particular sentiment in my heart that is hard to let go of. Overall, it is time to start letting things go in my closet and organize it better so I can feel more at ease when I open it.

The closet will serve as the overall organization of products, but it will be constantly organized and visibly coherent. Items will periodically be accessed to determine what is working and what needs to be extracted for more space and practicality.

Visible Clothing Rack

This clothing rack will showcase the most highlighted pieces for its nuisances or interchangeable focused themes. Think of it as the mannequins in a retail store's window or front table entrance.

Overall, adding more uniqueness.

Inspirations and The Driving Forces of Tackling this Project

Some of the leading inspirations that gave me the courage to jumpstart this much-needed project are the help of Tiffany Howard's: The Everyday Style Icon Podcast and my experience with working in a retail store that exemplifies the very instances of Front of House presentation and replenishment, destock and sending things off to make more room for new featured items, and the constant organizations of the Back of House items which serve as the foundation of what is visibly seen.

focus points

  • Adding more timeless and quality jewelry and accessories. Usually, as long as I have a variety of good earnings and a timeless/good-quality necklace, I am more than satisfied. However, I have recently desired to build a more extensive catalog of accessories because they amplify an outfit rather than not having them.

  • Better quality hangers and to keep them consistent throughout my closet.

  • Clear organization dividers for my shoes. I often forget all the shoes I have because my other shoes, besides the ones I wear in constant rotation, are in shoe boxes.

  • More elevated basics and statement pieces. For example, I would love to incorporate more elevated trousers and jackets.

  • Prioritizing a dry cleaning schedule again. When I was younger, I always had my clothes sent to the dry cleaners, but I fell off from the routine.

How I Will Keep You Updated:

I would love to keep my subscribers updated on this project, as it will set me up for success in my daily routine of finding something to wear and will be a documented journey of building my wardrobe from scratch. As someone trying to build my career as a personal stylist, which is an effortless passion and skill, documenting this project's journey will serve as a humble moment as occasionally, experts or the everyday person need to make a few adjustment to their wardrobe. This journey will be documented through pictures and excerpts, of course. Although I am not used to taking videos of myself that often, I will also get some video footage to show my emotions, grief, and dedication to this process in real-time.

Stay tuned!
