Style Series #1

Unique Style Stories & Inspirations
I'm thrilled to kick off the 'Style Inspiration' series. As someone deeply passionate about personal style, I love seeing the creativity and versatility in which people curate outfits that reflect their moods and aspirations. To my surprise while preparing for this series, I never expected to receive such profound insights and profound stories behind a single outfit. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who were willing to share their individuality and their journeys that shaped their uniqueness. Here's to the start of a series dedicated to showcasing uniqueness and the stories behind it. Cheers!
Frankie Busey
Frankie has been feeling down lately and wants to look and feel pretty today. She stands out in her beautiful skirt, comfortable kitten heels, and cool tattoos. Frankie enjoys thrifting and prefers to buy secondhand items to support sustainable clothing. She appreciates the diversity in her wardrobe and enjoys incorporating statement pieces. Frankie would like to add more overalls to her collection, as she finds them easy to style and comfortable to wear.
Natalie
Natalie created a versatile vintage outfit that reflects her love for masculine clothing. She has always admired masculine clothing since she was young, and as an adult, she incorporated it into her wardrobe. Natalie emphasizes that enjoying masculine clothing does not imply anything about her sexuality. She likes to include at least one meaningful piece when she gets dressed. In this case, her iguana necklace holds sentimental value, as it was a gift from her best friend's mother. Natalie pays attention to detail when crafting her outfits, incorporating meaningful accessories, even down to her phone case, which wasn't featured in the photos.
Akili Yasmine
Akili chose this outfit for a comfortable and breezy feel in the summer heat. She mentions that cream has been her vibe for the summer. She is embracing the idea of "decentering men" in her clothing choices. She explains that before this movement gained popularity, she didn't feel the need to prioritize appealing to the male gaze to present herself well. Instead, she incorporates this movement into her life and style to embrace her growing womanhood. "As women, our bodies often fluctuate," she says. Hence, she prefers to dress in flowy and modest clothing that insinuates her beauty and comfortability for herself rather than for the male gaze.
Akili wants to add bright colors and fun patterns to her wardrobe to complement her skin tone. She also wants to incorporate more thrift pieces to enhance her creativity and contribute to sustainable fashion.
